Pedro Reyes (Mexico City, 1972) explores the power of individual and collective organization to incite change through communication, creativity, happiness, and humor. He has won international attention for large-scale projects that address current social and political issues. Educated as an architect, he draws on this training to engage with utopian aspirations and the ongoing legacy of Modernism and constructs new forms of architecture necessary for new ways of life. Reyes’s awards include a Ford Foundation Fellowship (2016). He has had major exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, (Los Angeles), ICA (Miami), The Power Plant (Toronto), Beijing Biennale, Queens Museum (NY), and Carnegie International (Pittsburgh), among others. He has participated in the Liverpool Biennial, Gwangju Biennial, Documenta 13 (Kassel), and the Venice Biennale. Pedro Reyes lives and works in Mexico City, Mexico.
